Last week, Steve Ballmer of Microsoft announced that he will be stepping down within the next twelve months after thirteen years as CEO. Shares in Microsoft surged on the announcement as it is believed that Ballmer is not the visionary leader required to transition MIcrosoft to a post-desktop world. As consumers rely more on smartphones and tablets to access the Internet, Microsoft’s staple Windows product has seen sales collapse. Its tie up with Nokia in an attempt to compete with Apple and Google’s Adroid has proved something of a flop. Whoever takes over from Ballmer will have his/her work cut out to ensure that Microsoft does not continue to become an increasingly irrelevant company in a mobile world! I wonder will the successor behave like Ballmer did – check out some of his best bits here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8M6S8EKbnU
